Job Title:  Intern – Mobile Developer

General Summary of Position 

Mobile developer intern will join our development team and will be working with our lead developer to design and develop high quality mobile applications, Web API, and maintain current internal web applications. The mobile developer's responsibilities include researching UI and UX trends, updating current applications, and working with colleagues to brainstorm innovative ideas for new applications. 

The duration of the Summer Internship Program is 12 weeks in length. Hurley & Associates is supportive of receiving credit hours for the internship.  Interns are paid a competitive weekly salary.

Internship Objective:

General Summary of Position:   

The Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in our financial operations, focusing on both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable tasks. This position demands a high level of accuracy, organizational ability, and an unwavering attention to detail. The ideal candidate will uphold the values of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all aspects of their work.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Review with the Accounting Manager all invoices and scheduled payments
  • Applies all approved invoices, vouchers, check requests, etc. to appropriate expense account and class in accounting system
  • Generates payments and write checks for approved expenditures
  • Establishing new vendors in the accounting system and updating established vendor information as necessary
    • Handles all vendor correspondence
    • Reviews and processes remittance information provided by vendors 
    • Collecting W-9’s from vendors when appropriate for 1099 filing 
  • Inspects paid and unpaid invoices to maintain accurate files and records according to company standards
  • Pay bills, prepare and log deposits for Farm Management Clients. This also includes maintaining appropriate files for each Farm Management client
  • Maintains a filing system for financial information, records, and documents to ensure easily available information, and distributes accounting documents, records, and reports 
  • Prepare all invoices for all billing cycles and upload a copy to customer billing profiles to HA (internal software)
  • Prepare and send monthly statements adding finance charges when applicable
  • Make all necessary invoice adjustments as acres are updated by consultants in HA
  • Entering any new cash accounts or making changes to existing accounts for billing purposes
  • Post payments in accounting system and HA
  • As needed, back-up on the telephone and reception duties such as post-office collection and distribution of mail, shipments, ordering supplies, make bank deposit, etc
  • Other duties as assigned

The Farm Marketing Consultant provides top notch, disciplined, and comprehensive marketing and risk management services to area producers to enable clients to realize economic stability and profitability. Hurley & Associates, Inc. will have (1) Farm Marketing Consultant - Summer Internship opportunities at our Grundy Center, IA office in the summer of 2024.

We tailor individualized strategic marketing plans for each farmer; taking into account what makes their operation unique including their attitudes, financial obligations, and their future plans. Together we develop that marketing plan, and the consultant executes the plan on behalf of the farmer. Internship Objective:

 

Hurley & Associates, Inc. objective for providing this internship program is to develop the skills within selected individuals to meet increasing needs for qualified agricultural risk managers working in the field of commodity hedging/risk management marketing.

 

The duration of the Summer Consulting Internship Program is 12 weeks in length. Hurley & Associates is supportive of receiving credit hours for the internship.  Interns are paid a competitive weekly salary.

 

From this experience Interns should gain:

 

  • How relationships drive business and lay the foundation for long term growth.
  • How partnering with producers to infuse rational business thought into their operations promotes the stability of not only those operations but the local communities who are dependent upon agriculture.
  • Personal growth in the areas of independent critical thought, decision making and continuous improvement.
  • Further development of the intern' passion for agriculture and for the producers we serve.

 

 Summary of Intern Responsibilities:

 

  • Make on-farm client and prospect visits with office consultants to better understand the value of relationships in agriculture.
  • Work closely with a mentor to analyze individual operations then develop, communicate and execute a proactive strategic market plan.
  • Network in agricultural community banks, local elevators, associations, etc. to enhance Hurley brand recognition.
  • Participate in the presentation of a lender and/or prospective client.
  • Study licensing materials. 
  • Participating in workshops.
  • Create and deliver presentations

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide disciplined and comprehensive marketing and risk management services to hog producers to enable clients to realize economic stability
  • Protect and perform within Hurley’s policies and guidelines.  Understanding the futures market operations, controls, policies and procedures. 
  • Build & maintain solid business relationships/partnerships by developing trust and confidence with clients.
  • Develop and implement marketing plans within overall Hurley philosophy for hog clients, taking into consideration their comfort zones in working with various tools
  • Stay current on hog and grain market knowledge and government programs relevant to marketing needs and goals.
  • As an objective third party, assist in defining issues, problems, and opportunities faced by clients. Makes recommendations, as appropriate, for each client. 
  • Network with hog industry, business and community leaders
  • Prospect for new clients while maintaining and growing current client base.
  • Identify and provide for the educational needs of clients, prospects, and advocates including maintaining a presence at hog industry events.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:  Competencies

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma with 3-5 years experience in farm agriculture business or …
  • Associates or technical school degree with 2-4 years experience in agriculture or...
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture with 1-2 years related experience, preferred

 

Licensing or Certification Requirements

  • Series 3 license for commodity brokers required within designated time after hire.

 

Physical Requirements

  • May be required to work more than 40 hours per week.
  • Willing to travel overnight occasionally throughout the year.
