Job Title:  IS Help Desk Technician

General Summary of Position: 

The IS Help Desk Technician provides top quality technical support and troubleshooting for office managers, field consultants, and staff members.  The IS Help Desk Technician will also maintain computer, network, and communications equipment used by the offices as a whole.  These activities will occur both on site as well as via telephone support and often will be time critical.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

Service and Partnership 

  • Uphold and exemplify Hurley’s mission, vision, and Hurley Advantage playbook 

  • Ensure that technical issues are solved quickly and thoroughly to minimize the impact on our company’s ability to do business 

  • Customer service oriented 

  • Conduct oneself in a way that reduces stress and frustration in other employees when technical problems do occur 

Computer Hardware and Software 

  • Set up new computers including initial install of operating system, productivity tools, quote software, and communication software 

  • Administer Windows and Linux based servers 

  • Administer Office 365 Tenant 

  • Set up, configure, and maintain printers, faxes, and scanners, etc.  

  • Aid, assist, advise, and train non-technical users in the use of operating systems, productivity tools, and specialty software. 

  • Set up, configure and maintain Microsoft SharePoint libraries and pages. 

Networking 

  • Set up, configure, secure, and maintain local area networks, wireless access points, VPN connections 

  • Troubleshoot and effect repair (or participate in such) of network connectivity 

  • Develops and implements intermediate scripts to automate common functions or system operations

The Farm Marketing Consultant provides top notch, disciplined, and comprehensive marketing and risk management services to area producers to enable clients to realize economic stability and profitability. Hurley & Associates, Inc. will have (4) Farm Marketing Consultant - Summer Internship opportunities at our Brookings, South Dakota office in the summer of 2023.

The duration of the Summer Consulting Internship Program is 12 weeks in length. Hurley & Associates is supportive of receiving credit hours for the internship.  Interns are paid a competitive weekly salary.

This position also provides customer service with clients on a regular basis. Effective communication skills, attention to detail, professional image, integrity and confidentiality are required.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Ongoing Tasks

Administration

  • Keep Consultants organized and aware of important upcoming calendar items.
  • Contact clients, directed by Consultants, to provide information or reports.
  • Take client calls when Consultant is busy and provide backup for them when they are out of the office.
  • Help Consultants stay on track with prospecting efforts.
  • Prepare letters for prospects and clients.
  • Create new spreadsheets, supportive tools or work materials when necessary and assist with data-entry on a daily basis, as needed.

  • Series 3 license for grain brokers required after hire for Full-Time employees (not part-time. If this were to become a full-time role, a Series 3 License would be required)
  • The chosen candidate will be required to sign a standard Associated Person’s agreement, which contains a non-compete.

The Risk Management Consultant provides top notch disciplined and comprehensive marketing and risk management services to area producers to enable clients to realize economic stability and profitability. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Professionalism

  • Uphold and exemplify Hurley’s mission and vision statements
  • Represent Hurley & Associates with integrity and professionalism
  • Set professional and personal example to Hurley offices and their clientele
  • Network in agricultural community with chambers, banks, associations, etc. to establish Hurley brand recognition
  • Build & maintain solid business relationships/partnerships by developing trust and confidence with clients

 

Risk Management Services

  • Complies with all CFTC, FCM and Hurley policies and guidelines
  • Implement and monitor Futures Regulations for compliance
  • Develop and implement marketing plans within overall Hurley philosophy for farm clients, taking into consideration their comfort zones in working with various tools
  • Stay current on market knowledge and government programs relevant to marketing needs and goals
  • As an objective third party, assist in defining client issues, problems, and opportunities faced by clients.  By understanding situations or conditions, Risk Management Consultant makes recommendations, as appropriate, for each client. 
  • Re-evaluate marketing plans throughout the year and make necessary changes
  • Maintain confidential client records and use Hurley proprietary software to project client cash flows and break even analysis

Management

  • Manage processes, policies, production, and client relationships
  • Daily review of client positions, futures and cash
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, Senior Consultants and Hurley corporate staff

Business Development

  • Prospect for new clients while maintaining and growing current client base
  • Present Hurley & Associates portfolio of products and services in a variety of public settings
  • Achieve agreed upon revenue goals 
  • Provide educational assistance on marketing tools, as needed

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma with 3-5 years experience in farm agriculture business or …
  • Associates or technical school degree with 2-4 years experience in agriculture or...
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture with 1-2 years related experience, preferred

Licensing or Certification Requirements

  • Series 3 license for commodity brokers required within 90 days of hire.

Physical Requirements

  • May be required to work more than 40 hours per week and must be willing to travel overnight occasionally.

Percentages of Work Responsibilities

  • 70% Risk Management Services and compliance on personal book of business
  • 20% Business Development
  • 10% Leadership

Time spent in the above work responsibilities will change dependent on the consultant’s account load (i.e. a new consultant will spend much more time in business development than one with a full account deck).
